Sunday Morning, Ramada Inn, Brainerd, MN

Sometimes the best (and only and closest) place to stay is the Ramada Inn. Amenities include: Smokeaters at every mod cinderblock entry.

Titles for this photo under consideration:
"Place a smokeater and they will come..."
Cheap Beer and Cigarettes
White Trash's Trash
"I couldn't have set this up if I tried..."

Add your title in the comments!

Brainerd is cool. You know that's where Fargo was set, right? My question close did they nail the accent in the movie?

Ooops, sorry, messed up my reply comment. Sunday morning, you know,

Fargo NAILED the accents, the attitude, the snow...which are huge factor in the movie's greatness.

I'll be posting a few more photos from Brainerd/Baxter/Mille Lacs today and tomorrow, check back if you just can't get enough of Minnesota.

Maybe the beer cans are actually smokeater larvae. Y'know, with the protective coloration of beer cans. This could actually be a scene of primal maternal care. The two on the cement are playing as cubs of all species do, whilst the mama smokeater tends to the ill smokeater larve lying in the complex nest.

The gaps in the concrete are very sinister and reminiscent of a swastica. I have seen this same pattern in the doors of the Marriot Hotel in South Liverpool and believe there could be a 1920's connexion. Camera One should try her feet on Speke soil as I am sure strappy sandals woudl go well there.

Camera1 would like nothing more than to tart herself up and stride around Speke like the strappy heeled trollop she is. Camera1 checked out the Marriott site and discovered there are two Marriotts in Liverpool. She assumes the Liverpool Nazi headquarters is camouflaged as the "Speke Aerodome," or "Marriott Liverpool South." Camera1 also comments that she cannot believe she didn't notice the swastika-esque stylings in cinderblock. It all makes sense now. Brainerd. Speke. Ah yes. Yes. It's all so obvious. The Smokeater larvae theory was the most plausible until this startling revelation was revealed.

But, Ms. Trillian, who says they have to be exclusive theories? The swastika was also a symbol of Native American tribes, representing the four winds - so maybe the swastika (or sauvastika) came about as a symbol of the four winds because the Native Americans in the Brainerd area took note of the pattern of the smokeater nests and the dispersal of smokeater larvae.
It's all about competing conspiracies and blind synchronicities, as R. A. Wilson would tell us. (grin)

Or it's just literally white trash.

Okay, okay. Smokeater larvae, covert Nazi operation, white trash. Really, aren't they all the same thing? I mean, fundamentally?

Yeah, but it's either this or do real work - and coming up with weird theories is _far_ more entertaining....

I hesitate to post this for fear of the sure to be more comments on this photo it will spawn, but I have to ask: Does anyone else suddenly see an uncanny resemblance between the Smokeater and a Dalek? Why am I just now noticing this, too? Or is it just me? Did someone just say "Exterminate?"

Well, the comparison doesn't jump out at me, but I would be perfectly happy to posit that this smokeater is what Daleks would look like if Ben Franklin tried to invent them and got really really frustrated after getting the first mock-up carved in oak.

"Ex-teerrrr-min-aate... your cihhhg-a-rehhhhhtte..."

Caution - when using Google image search on just the word "Dalek", the fourth image displayed in the list is a picture of a nude woman fondling a Dalek. Be careful.
