Hi Elysia (and everyone else who wants to know),

They are Frye boots, Harness 8R. There is also a taller version, Harness 12R. (8R = 8", 12R = 12") Frye has been making these for years. My first pair were guy ones then I found the girl version which I wore to their death.

Be warned: These are real, serious boots. These are not pretty little fashion boots. Frye boots take a while to break in. They are not for the faint of foot. I'm nursing a serious heel wound and get this: Blisters on my inner thumbs from jimmying them on. The irony is that once in them, my narrow feet slide around a bit. The harness bit doesn't detach, so when you put them on you've got to wrangle your foot and ankle into them. Which is why I suggest the 8R for first timers. The frustration level in the break in phase is lower. However, after wearing my last pair for about 11 years after their break in phase, I can attest: The agony is worth the ecstasy. Sort of like childbirth, I guess.

Plus guys think they're really hot. They're tough and bad girl but not in a she's too rough for me, she could beat me up kind of way. More in a Chrissie Hynde don't mess with me unless you're serious kind of way.

There are also a couple of versions without the harness and they're cool, too. (I almost went for the Calvary this time around.I've spotted them on Bono, so, you know, they're probably uber cool.) Check 'em out on www.fryeboots.com under "Classics"

I got a better deal at www.zappos.com The Harness 8Rs go for $175 there. The 12Rs are $180. They've also got a style called Romy which has a more western heel and toe shape for $155. You might also like Harley's versions, on Zappos their Pecos and Laredo boots are very similarly
styled and about $50 cheaper.

Good luck and happy boot hunting.

You completely rock. Thanks for the info! I wore my black Harley boots until they had holes in them and I couldn't walk through a puddle without soaking my socks.

I totally agree with you about the boot break-in process, but I would take that any day over childbirth. You can keep that nonsense! 8-)

And I don't really worry too much about intimidating men with my shoes - if a guy is going to let my boots back him down, then he ain't worth the dust on'em. HAH! Snarl. I love it.

I'd love to stay and chat, but I have to go boot shopping! Wheeeeeee!

Hey - Elysia here (aka Marcheline) I like to post comments from work, so I created Elysia's blog just for that - so they can't trace it back and find my REAL blog, which you can link to from this comment. If you are remotely interested.

Hey, I used this picture on one of my posts - the one where I'm all excited about ordering the boots. I put a link to your site on my blog, too.

If you don't want me to use the picture, just let me know and I'll take it off - but I thought it might bring some more folks to your site.

Cheers,

Elysia (aka Marcheline)

No problem whatsoever. My feeling is: Post it on the internet, it belongs to the Universe.

How are the new boots? Kickin' butt and takin' names yet?

(A week into the process, mine are coming along nicely. The flesh wound on my heel is healing and getting in and out of the boots is much easier and no longer causes blisters on my inner thumbs. Vanity. What price?)

Hey - Have not received yon booties yet - I'm hoping they'll be there waiting for me when I check my mail today.... I didn't get a chance to check the mail on Friday or Saturday, so they may have been there all weekend long, pining for my tootsies. I can't wait! Glad you're healing up nicely. 8-)

Thanks for everything. Love your new pics, too...
